YEAR 5

Welcome

Welcome to Year 5! This year is an exciting year, packed full of memorable opportunities and the chance for the children to take on important responsibilities in their first year of upper key stage 2.

This year the children will continue to develop as independent learners while reaching their full academic potential in preparation for their transition to Year 6.

In Year 5 we work hard, respect each other and engage in and enjoy our learning. The year ahead is packed full of exciting challenges.

Mangahigh Madness

Y5 and 6 children have all been given their own personal login for Mangahigh, a new fun way to practise and consolidate their maths skills. On Friday all of the children had fun testing out the new games and competing against each other. They literally became 'Maths...

Y5 Get in the Zone

On Thursday morning Y5 were lucky enough to have a training session with a basketball coach from Newcastle Eagles. They certainly all 'got in the zone' as they practised their dribbling, dunkin' and throwing! I think we may well have a few future basketball stars.

How did the Romans write numbers?

Year 5 have enjoyed investigating Roman numerals and gaining an understanding into how their number system worked. They were shocked to discover that the Romans did not have a...

Harvest Festival

Our Annual Harvest Festival took place on Tuesday 10th October. Pupils from Early Years to Year 6 came together to perform to a hall full of parents and carers. It was lovely to see relatives of the children joining in with the words and actions to the catchy songs...

Year 5 Go Back in Time!

In music we have been looking at Victorian life. Mrs Kendrick has magically rolled back time to become a strict Victorian teacher and has made us aware of how lucky we are to go to school in 2017 and not 1840! During our singing we've learnt about life for the rich...
