The Governing Body of Swalwell Primary School is delighted to announce the appointment of our new Head Teacher, Mrs Hocking. Mrs Hocking was selected from a strong group of candidates, who faced several varied tasks and questions during the two-day recruitment process. As part of that process the staff at Swalwell had the opportunity to meet the candidates and the Student Council gave each applicant a tough grilling!
We were all particularly impressed by Mrs Hocking’s vision for the school, the high quality of her teaching skills and her commitment to teamwork and stability.
Mrs Hocking has two young children of her own and has a lot of experience working in other Gateshead primary schools, including long-standing roles as a teaching and non-teaching Deputy Head. We are very excited to have her on board and we are looking forward to a promising future for Swalwell Primary.
Whilst Mrs Hocking will officially start at Swalwell in September, she will be making visits to the school in the meantime so children will have the opportunity to meet her in person and she can familiarise herself even more with our staff, systems and ethos.
I would also like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to Mrs McCall and Mrs Leaver, our Acting Heads, who have worked incredibly hard and done a brilliant job over the last year. We very much appreciate their hard work and dedication to Swalwell, which is evident in the improvements made to date.
Please do let me know if you have any queries. In the meantime, I hope you all have a wonderful Easter holiday (hopefully with more sunshine than snow!) and look forward to seeing you during the Summer term.
