Swalwell Primary School are proud to announce that we now have a defibrillator in school.
A defibrillator is a device that gives a high energy electric shock to the heart through the chest wall to someone who is in cardiac arrest. This high energy shock is called defibrillation, and it’s an essential life saving step in the chain of survival. Having an onsite defibrillator in school could save a life, sudden cardiac arrest is unfortunately one of the UK’s biggest killers.
Swalwell School would like to say a special Thank You to Whickham Rotary Club and Whickham Police Station in particular PC Bowman who kindly donated money for the school to be able to purchase a defibrillator.
PC Bowman’s aspiration is to make sure every school in the country has access to this important life saving piece of equipment and we couldn’t agree more.
