On Monday 16th July Year 5 visited the Get North Quayside Trail (or should I say the Get Soaked Quayside Trail!)
We started at the Northern Design Centre where we looked at 50 iconic images of the North and then designed our own logo for a new product.
After a short walk to the Sage we watched a film screening of ‘Bridges’- a new, animated musical adventure that introduces the bridges of the River Tyne.
Then it was onto DJ McCall as Mrs McCall hit the microphone (fortunately not to sing) to lead us through a soundscape that we heard on headphones, a new way of drawing what we hear!
This was quickly followed by a visit to the Baltic, to see how the North is represented in Art. After visiting the galleries we were disappointed to see that it started raining so our long-awaited lunch had to be eaten on the River Terrace, inside of the Baltic.
Although the weather improved slightly after lunch, we had to abandon some of our plans Instead we had a close look at the Millennium Bridge and some of the other historic sights on the Quayside.
Just as we headed back to the coach, the rain started again, who would have believed after weeks of beautiful weather we chose the day to end the mini-drought!
Tired legs and wet clothes when we got back but they didn’t stop a great day.
