On 3rd March Swalwell Primary School children celebrated  World Book Day . The main aim of the day was to encourage children to read for pleasure. In school, all children are regularly provided with a book of their own to read at home and at school.

This year we participated in a variety of activities:  For a small donation, everyone dressed as their favourite book character, some children produced posters to advertise World Book Day, others entered a competition to design the next National Book Day Token and some KS2 pupils and adults volunteered to read to youngsters.  The storytime session was a great success and we would like to thank Miss Foster and Miss Watkins for organising the event.

Before going home at the end of the day, children were given a £1 book token which can be exchanged for one of 10 exclusive WBD books or used to get £1 off any book at a range of local booksellers.

There are some fabulous photographs in our gallery…Why not take a look?
